Speaking on the At His Right Hand podcast hosted by Olive Emodi, Sharon said Shawn insisted they would not have sex before marriage and also refused to allow her visit his home alone, a decision that left her questioning his intentions.
"When I first started dating him, he was like, we can't have sex before marriage. I said no problem. And then he says, 'You also can't come to my house because if you come to my house, we'll be alone.' I'm like, 'Hey, I know say this guy dey hide something,'" she recalled.
She narrated another incident when she arrived in Lagos late at night and her hotel was fully booked. Hoping to spend the night at Shawn's place, she was surprised when he initially declined, saying he needed to pray before making a decision.
"He said no... let him ask the Spirit. I told my friends, 'Forget this thing, this guy is not honest. I know what I'm saying,'" she said.
Although Shawn later agreed after praying, Sharon admitted she remained convinced he had only accepted because he had enough time to send the woman she believed he was hiding away.
However, when she eventually stayed over, Shawn slept in the sitting room while she took the bedroom, an experience that changed her perspective.
"That was just part of what I brought from the past. That was part of the baggage that I brought. His honesty was a problem for me," she said.
Sharon also revealed that Shawn's genuine love and thoughtful gestures were initially difficult for her to accept, adding that he regularly wrote her handwritten notes without even knowing how much she cherished them.
